Living in Hawaii

I lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for a year and 8 months. My sister, Ann,
flew
over and she spent 8 months with me on this beautiful island. Ann
and I both
loved this beautiful paradise. There is so much to see and
do on this island.
You can go around the island in one day, but one
day never seems to be enough.
There are many wonders, i.e. the Pali,
Sacred Falls, the Mormon Temple, the
Punchbowl and, of course, Pearl
Harbor just to name a very few.
The Pali are the mountains where the king of Hawaii would throw his
enemies
to their death. The wind blows through these mountains so
strong that if you
are not careful you will reach a point where you
cannot go anywhere. You,
literally, can reach a point of no return.
You can lean into the wind at a 45
degree angle and the wind will hold
you up.
We loved the beach and it was one block from our apartments which were
named LeiMomi, which means "string of pearls". Ft. DeRussy was an Army
base
with its own private beach for military staff only. The pictures
shown below look
as if we are on grass. There was grass at this army
base where you could
spread your mats and lie in the sun. Just walk a
few paces and you were in
the sand and at the water. It was the best
of both worlds. Below is only
a sampling of a few pictures of the
times we spent on this island. Honolulu,
to us, truly was God's little
piece of "heaven on earth". I hope you
enjoy this page!
