100 Things About Me

 

1. I was born at my grandmothers house in Blodgett, TX, which was named after
      my great-grandfather.

2. I was born on Sunday, 10/31/37 at 3:15 p.m. and my twin sister, Lou, was born
     at 3:30 p.m.

3.  I have a younger sister, Ann. My  mother asked how many there were when
       she was born.

4.  I went to school in a one room school house.

5.  We moved to Sulphur Springs when I was 7 and the classes were separated.

6.  I never knew either of my biological grandfathers.

7.  I never had a brother but I have two cousins who were like brothers to me,
       Larry & Bobby.  Bobby  and Larry have both died . Broke my heart.

8.  Larry died while I was talking to him on the phone.  Has thrown me into
     a depression that I am working my way out of.  He was my brother,
     my best friend and my confident.

9.  I grew up in the 1950's and love rock and roll music.

10.  I still stay in touch with my best friend from Junior High School days.

11. I have an online Yahoo Chat group for my 1956 High School graduation class.

12. I regret not getting a college degree.  Only finished 1 year.

13. My twin sister and I have sung together since we could talk.

14. Was in a girls Sextet in High School & we had the opportunity to appear
       on Arthur Godfrey's Amateur Hour. But too many girls backed out.

15. We didn't have a television until I was in 10th grade.

16. I thought Elvis Presley was one of the sexiest men I had ever seen and
       I saw him on a hotel balcony in  Hawaii and he waved at me.

17. My first job was working weekends, holidays and summers at a five and dime store.

18. I was a Senior Member of the National Honor Society in High School and it
       helped to  me obtained my first job after I graduated.

19. I like country western music and Vince Gill is one of my favorites.

20. My favorite movies are Little Women, Mr. Holland's Opus, Gone with The Wind
        and Giant.

21. I remember going to outdoor Drive-In Movies.

22. I never skipped school.

23. English was my favorite subject in High School.

24. Speech was my favorite class in college.

25. I grew up as a Baptist.

26. I almost married a Baptist preacher's son.

27. I have been a Episcopalian for over 40 years.

28. I was Senior Warden for the Episcopal Church and am a licensed Chalice 
      Bearer  among many other things I have done in our church.

29. I worked for the Episcopal Church as Secretary for 12 years.

30. I have been married twice.

31. I have two children from my first marraige, a boy and a girl.

32. I have 4 granddaughters.

33. I have 2 great-granddaughters and one great-grandson

34. I met my second husband at Parents Without Partners.

35. I have been married to my second husband since August 1975.

36. My husband suffers from mild to moderate Alzheimer's.

37. I am a six year survivor of breast cancer.

38. I had a stint put in my right main heart artery in 2006  but I did not have a
        heart attack. I was blocked 90%.

39. I suffer from Lymphedema from the breast cancer I had.

40. I lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for over two years.

41. My daughter was born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

42. I took piano lessons for 8 years and I play piano.

43. I took voice lessons for 6 years and piano since I was in 4th grade.

44. I collect bells, snow babies, clocks and capidomonte.

45. I like Lite vanilla yogurt ice cream.

46. I do not drink coffee. Makes me sick.

47. I drink decaffeinated Iced Tea with my meals.

48. I have to have my orange juice or skim milk for breakfast.

49. I stopped smoking in 1993. Put a patch on and never wanted another cigarette.

50. I like to clean house but can't do it much with the lymphedema I have now..

51. I do not allow people to smoke in my house since I quit smoking.

52. I still adore my ex-in laws.

53. I worked for a Superintendent and he was the best boss I ever had. 
       He died of Leukemia about 2 years after I retired.

54. I was Office Manager for a Cosmetic company.  Was the most fun job
       I ever had and I still use their cosmetics.

55. I have lived in Georgia, Texas and Hawaii.

56. I have been watching As The World Turns since I was pregnant with my son
       in 1955.  They cancelled the show in Sept. 2010.

57. I also watch The Bold and the Beautiful.

58. My other favorite T.V. shows are Dancing with the Stars, old  Golden Girls Show.
       I also like old game shows and HGTV channel.

59. I rarely drink, but when I do, I like champagne.

60. I hate to drive and won't if someone else will do it for me.

61. My favorite spectator sport is baseball (Rangers). Have been to some games.

62 Another favorite spectator sport is football (Cowboys). Have been to
     many of their games.

63. I still email a friend I knew from the second grade.

64.Changed my sleeping habits and now I try to go to bed at 11:30. Not as much as
      a night owl as I use to be. Don't stay up until 1:00 an 2:00 A.M.

65. I like to read before I go to bed or watch a short TV show to relax.

66. I frequent the Half Price Book Stores.

67. I like to talk on the phone to my sisters or anyone else who will talk to me.

68. I enjoy talking to my friends on the phone but I don't like to talk over an hour.

69. I have two step sons. I rarely see them.  One I talk to over the phone.

70. I love to walk.  Before my back surgery, I walked 2 miles every day.

71. I like to oil paint.

72. My younger sister taught me to oil paint.

73. When I was a child and we lived in the country we didn't have electricity
       and my mother would read to us by a coal oil lamp.

74. I spent my summers at my grandmothers and aunts with my sisters and
       Bobby and Larry. How I miss Bobby and Larry and those wonderful sumers.

75. I wear a 5-1/2 medium shoe and can hardly find them in stores so I shop
      Zappos online.

76. I love jewelry and shop QVC online.

77. I hate to grocery shop.

78. I am not nor have I ever been a pack rat.

79. I am PETRIFIED of Mice.

80. I have had several poodles but my last one was the sweetest I ever had.
       Her name was Fanci.  She was my baby and don't you dare tell me she didn't
       understand every word I spoke to her.  She was so smart. She was from a
       family of show dogs.

81. I am a warm weather person.  I hate winter.

82. My mother died when she was 57 and was buried on my birthday.

83. My daddy died at the age of 88 and outlived 3 wives and had a girlfriend when he
       died. He was a ladie's man.

84. I look exactly like my grandfather on my daddy's side of the family even
       down to the dimple in his chin. I have a large picture of him hanging in my hall.

85. Pink is my favorite color.

86. My favorite state to vacation in is Tennessee in the Smokey Mountains.

87. I also enjoy visiting Branson, Missouri and the Country Western Theaters there.

88. I was a cheerleader in grade school.

89. I live in a small town in Texas, population 5,000.

90. I have been to Washington D.C. and think our capitol is beautiful.

91. I am 4'11" feet tall. I am shrinking in my old age.

92. When I was in high school I dated a boy who was 6' 4" tall.

93. I still have all my own teeth.

94. I only have  gray hair around my temples and very little there. My hair
       is light brown.

95. I enjoy meeting people on the internet.

96. I use to crawl under my grandmother's house and smoke my grandfather's
       cigarette butts.

97. I retired when I was 62 years of age.

98. Both my sisters live within an hours drive of me.

99. My latest daughter-in-law is from Manila in the Philippines.

100. My daughter lives in Dallas and my son lives in Houston.
